The Cherry

755A, SOUND BASE

About 2.5 months have passed since the
cherry WCW-755A
have arrived in late August.
I am
sorry for the delay in my reply because my cherry
WCW-755A
couldn't play the sound imaged by
myself.
Because I didn't hear that sound before
purchasing, and purchased it
only by information from
Internet,
so I hadn't understand the character and the
ability of 755A speaker
by my ears.
That was
different from my image of violin solo.
It's the sound
from when a violinist presses a fiddle bow
hard
against the strings in the high notes, and plays it
fast.
That sound was too hard, and I became
excruciating for a time.
I recently derived a
satisfactory sound after a process of trial
and error
that focuses of a setting. |
WCW-755A made from cherry
wood

The cherry WCW-755A has an excellent
expressiveness.
I can feel the intention of the
performer: breathing, interval of
sounds,
loudness of sound, the tempo and sensitive
sound fluctuation.
I listen to classical music only but
it is close to
actual live performance.
As expected,
the cherry WCW-755A doesn't generate
the scale of a full
orchestra caused by its capacity.
Although it
is suited to a chamber orchestra,
especially solo
performance.
The cherry WCW-755A plays truly-gratifying
inherent tones of
instruments such as a violin,
violincello, piano, and winds.
I listen to CD now, not
SACD and high-resolution audio.
But I don't feel
dissatisfaction.
I felt that the recorded information
quantity in a CD is very large.

Roiene RA160
WCW-2016R
The speaker drivers supplied
by the orderer, Mr.Hayashi
are Roiene RA160.
We made
WCW-2016R after a long interval.
He was retained
Roiene RA160 in the boxes for more than 10
years.
So, the sound is a little hard, but WCW-2016R
played
Fascinating Roiene Tone.
We will keep aging till he calls for
WCW-2016R. |

I listened to the
sound of WCW-2016R at home.
The only word to describe
that is "Bravo!"
I heard a symphony, jazz
and vocal music in a short time,
but they are all
excellent.
My favorite MM-141S with PeerLess TG9FD-10-04 is good
enough,
but WCW-2016R was too many.
Besides the
aggressive sounds such as musical instrument
and
singing voice, WCW-2016R also plays detailed
information
other than music such as breathing,
an
operation sound of instrument and a slight noise
in the
recording studio.
That's the performance of silence,
in a manner of speaking.
That is why WCW-2016R has more
realism.
I was moved to tears when I listend to the
WCW sound
at Hasehiro Audio for the first time.
I
reached that it is from this realistic
performance.
Space of reality by the performance is the
same in every genre.
I can experience an authentic taste
of WCW-2016R
at home every day, I'm laughing to
myself.
WCW-2016R makes people happy.
The size,
color and shape of Roiene RA160 matches WCW
enclosure.
WCW-2016R also has a good feel as a beautiful
accessory
in my home.
Only fault is "Overserious
Performance Space."
I can't help listening it while
WCW-2016R is playing,
so I can't settle down to other
work.
I will probably end up needing to buy other light
speaker system.

FOSTEX
F200A WCW-F200A
Three months
have passed since WCW-F200A came here,
and
two months have passed since
custom-made tweeter boxes
arrived home.
At
first, WCW-F200A was indistinct articulation
and the
frequency response was acutely peaked around
125Hz.
I heard that Hasehiro had used these FOSTEX F200A
for a long time,
so they are due to the hybrid
enclosures.
The fact that the sound became clear when I
cover up
the horn-opening area.
It absorbed the
peak around 125Hz, instead, it slightly raised
the
frequency response around 60 to 80Hz.
While the smell of
varnish gradually disappeared, the muffled sound
also
disappeared.
After that, it seems that WCW-F200A has
become intrinsic sound.
About its bass, the feeling of
volume and the distinct vibrancy
have great
appeal.
But I place more importance on treble,
so I
felt the limits of high pitch sound of FOSTEX
F200A.
However, the treble became sufficient and sharp
sound, additionally,
the bass became firm sound after
adding FOSTEX FT28D tweeter
with Hasehiro made custom
tweeter boxes. (3.3ƒÊF)
In my humble opinion, the
strengthening of treble upgrades
not only treble but also
bass in the interest of a harmonic
tone. |

Nonetheless, the frequency response is
still acutely peaked
around 125Hz.
So, maybe there is
no direct cause and effect
between the muffled sound and
the peak position.
I hope to reduce the peak around
125Hz, and raise its peak division
to bass part.
As a
whole, WCW-F200A became considerably-high-level
speakers.
Especially, the winds and the strings WCW-F200A
plays have
a distinct
vibrancy.
WCW-F200A became the gem which
can't be left for me.
FOSTEX F200A are mounted on
40Hz-tuned 55L bass reflex and
frontloaded horn,
too.
The bass reflex naturally surpasses the others
in
the feeling of bass volume, the frontloaded horn
surpasses
the others in localization of sound and
WCW-F200A surpasses
the others in quality of the sound.
They have its merits and demerits.
Generally, I
think WCW-F200A is the best!

This is WCW enclosure has 755A
by SOUND BASE 555.
Besides, it is made from
cherrywood.
It had a very beautiful finish as you can

The
WCWs are a second order as cherrywood
use.
I made
the first cherry WCWs three years
ago.
When heard the
offer I replied, "WCW enclosure has a low resonance,
so
I think the sound quality is almost the same if it uses
cherrywood."
But he said with confidence,
"I am an acoustic
guitar maker,
thus I know WCW enclosure will
surely play music with better sound
if uses
cherrywood!"
The cherry WCW-F200A with its
standard FOSTEX F200A produced
the result he
wants.
The cherry
WCW-F200A played
an elegant sound of high
quality
than Hasehiro standardized
WCW-F200A.
Cherrywood has been said that it
is
enclosure material with resonant tone
since
early times, and it is often used
to high-end
loudspeakers.
I could get
valuable domestic
mountain
cherrywood
three years ago, so I could be used
it to
the cherry WCW-F200A. (see right
photo)
But I couldn't get it this
time,
so I used bing cherry
wood
to
the
cherry WCW-755A.

WCW-F200A | loudspeaker has a replica of
Western Electric WE755A
on a cherrywood enclosure, that
is the highest combination.
The sound of
the cherry WCW-755A was very beautiful as I thought.
The
cherry WCW-755A has a sobering resolution.
It etched the
sensitive instrumental sounds, and made me feel
like
there is a vocalist in front of me.
The
cherry WCW-755A has outstanding grades
regarding
vividness of music performance, and it became
Hasehiro
superlative loudspeaker for both price and sound
quality.

Two weeks have passed.
The
sound of the cherry WCW-755A is like listen to
music
through headphones: it reaches my ears
directly.
Point sound source by full-range speaker driver
755A constructs music
in three dimensions at the
front of the cherry WCW-755A.
Additionally WCW enclosures
don't make unnecessary sounds,
and play well-sounding
sophisticated tone.
It makes me really happy, the cherry
WCW-755A plays sound
that I have never heard of before
for example acoustic guitar,
piano solo and a
cappella.
The cherry WCW-755A plays music in lurid
detail
depending on the CD recording condition.
Until
now, I was mounted these 755A drivers on another
enclosures
but I never knew 755A plays music so
touching.
This time, I had WCW enclosures
specially
made from bing cherry
wood.
So, the
cherry WCW-755A gives a different image
from general
audio equipment because it creates an aura of
upgraded
furniture.
Solid wood loudspeakers are also
wonderful from the point of view
as interior
decoration, so the cherry WCW-755A increases
a feeling of
satisfaction.
I enjoy audio as a hobby for a long
time but I owned
handmade loudspeakers for the first time
in my audio life.
I want a longstanding relationship with
the cherry WCW-755A.

I have received
much manufacturing period from the orderer
because it is
a very difficult request.
I want to view the image
although it will be completed after a little,
so I
stacked all the parts sideways.
It has a stylish
design.
Based on the order, I bonded 5 layered boards,
but I will fix 3 boards
on each side with the tightening
screws.
A side board of Corian® board is my first trial
for me,
so I'm looking forward to how the Corian® boards
will affect
sound quality.

The custom-made UMU-151M was completed
with
considerable difficulty.
It became very innovative
wonderful design as intended by the orderer.
The mounted
drivers are FOSTEX FE108-Sol provided by the
orderer.
"If I
make a front baffle board or side boards using Corian
board,
what kind of sound will it
become?"
I had that idea from before.
But I
read an article that the late audio critic,
Mr.Saburo Egawa made
bass reflex speaker boxes
using Corian® board, as a result, it was
an inorganic
sound and a failure.
Corian® is a material with less
resonance so it is very suitable
for insulator, but I had
been convinced that it is not suitable as
a material for
speaker boxes so I did not even experiment.
So, I did
not expect very much about its sound quality.
I was just
expecting the fun of the design.
But, listening to the
sound of the completed custom-made UMU-151M
I realized
that it was my mistake. |
UMU-151M having a
side MDF board sandwiched by Corian®
boards
|
An output way of a bass is completely different
from before.
The bass such as a double bass and a bass
drum of the custom-made
UMU-151M is like a knockout punch
of a boxer noted for an ability
to deliver hard
punches.
I can feel a heavy block in the core of the
bass.
Perhaps, I think there is performance of FOSTEX
FE108-Sol,
even so, it is amazing.
And there
is tightness in the whole sound.
Because Corian® board
does not resonate, there is little reverberation
in the
custom-made UMU-151M enclosure, the sound is tight,
and
it produces just like a bass reflex speaker.
Musical
instruments and chorus will be localized.
The custom-made
UMU-151M is different from a bass reflex speaker
made
with only Corian® board,
it uses Corian® board only for
the walls of the horn.
So, I think that the custom-made
UMU-151M has Corian®
characteristics to absorb
vibration with mass, while having
the goodness of
backloaded system.
Thanks to it, I made a new
discovery. |

There is an
obvious difference in sound compared to

Romantic Healing Vox by SSC coating.
As a whole, this
custom Romantic Healing Vox was increased
the clarity of
a sound.
There have been an increasing number of
violin red finish orders.
"So pretty!"
Violin

The orderer had brought National
EAS-20PW55 (first sold in 1966).
EAS-20PW55 was called
Genkotsu (literally, fisted hand), and is
20cm alnico
full-range double cone speaker driver.

have often heard from elderly audio enthusiasts about
EAS-20PW55,
"Genkotsu..., Genkotsu...".
But
this is my first time to see actual thing and listen
to its sound.
I mounted National EAS-20PW55
on
the custom-ordered violin red UMU-191M without any
problem. |

First, I listened to female vocal music as
usual.
This violin red performance has an
indescribably sound spread sense
just like a flat
baffle speaker.
At any rate, I can hear the sound from
both wide areas.
Overall, it is a natural sound quality
having no part to protrude.
The voice of the female
vocalist is a little thin, but this violin red
sings me
the lyrics gently and realistically.
Violin red
UMU-191M with National EAS-20PW55 has a soft tone
color
without any irritation, not only the guitar and the
piano
but also the bass drum.
This violin red
performance lacks the modulation feeling
and
forcefulness, but is a soothing gentle tone color
which can be listened
for long time without
fatigue.

Super
6.5" has exactly the same tone color as Super 8",
so the
metallic sound such as hi-hat is very
realistic.
Mirrored finish has a kind of cabinetwork
quality,
but its sound becomes glossy.
It is a subtle
difference but it sounds like urbane and modern
music
compared with Hasehiro Premium For Jazz Audio Fans
Only.
A throaty female vocal becomes mellow.
I don't
recommend a mirrored finish to wild jazz performance
lovers.

I have only JBL 4312
until now,
and have listened to jazz while changing the
amplifier
both Accuphase E-250 and TRIODE
TRV-88SE
by listening music.
But I was
considering buying another speakers
to remove the burden
of it.
At that sort of time,
I became interested in
Hasehiro backloaded horn speakers
through the
Internet.
I visited Hasehiro listening room
immediately.
"There it is!"
I found
the sound just when For Jazz Audio Fans Only plays
music.
But I decided Audio Nirvana Super 6.5" Cast
Frame
instead of 8-inch speaker driver because of
a 18‡u room
and under consideration of the
movement.
That is UMU-171M with Audio Nirvana Super 6.5"
Cast Frame.

The sound gets in front of me.
I am
addicted to the sharp and the powerful sound of
UMU-171M

The
drum playing is really overwhelming, it's just

The vocal also get
in front of me, it seems that he/she is
singing
close to and yet so firm.
But I felt it
lacks a low sound range, that said, it is less than one
week
since it came here.
I hope for its future
development.
I liked urethane mirrored finishing and ordered it, but it is
better
to avoid mirrored finishing who listens to jazz
performance.
As Hasehiro said, I think that the mirrored
finishing affects
the tone quality.
At any rate I can
enjoy that almost more than enough
and I am
satisfied.
I appreciate Hasehiro offered me really
amazing.

I am studying the sound of

passed.
It is fun to notice various
differences.
Recently I introduced a speaker
selector.
I am listening and comparing them
by preparing the environment
for easy
comparison.

Audio Fans Only plays a vivid sound.
The sound approaches
me having high brilliant feeling.
The high sound of
percussion is much clearer than other loudspeakers.
And
so, I listened to African drum performance because I
thought
that I could understand more simply by listening
to
a simple percussion playing.
I could clearly listen
to the tightly sharp high sounds such as
hitting
the drum frame and brushing the drum skin.
For
Jazz Audio Fans Only is great on the impact sound
and the
friction sound!
As expected, a glamorous low
pitched sound such as a bass guitar
and a contrabass has
been superseded by the other two
large-sized
loudspeakers.
For Jazz Audio Fans Only is
truly remarkable in middle and
high pitched sound, but it
may have difficulty in low pitched sound.
So, I
listened to a Scottish bagpipe solo.
Then I was surprised
in another way.
The sound of the
bagpipe consists of
nonmelodic bass of a single tone
and a high-pitched
melody, but For Jazz Audio Fans Only plays
the high
pitched sound from the cone and the low pitched
sound
from the horn separately.
It convinced me that
it's the power of Hasehiro back loaded
horn
system, and that's the reason why For
Jazz Audio Fans Only plays
music in a sonorous
tones.
Moreover, I felt that the low pitched sound of the
bagpipe that
For Jazz Audio Fans Only played is
better because of no dullness
and
dimness.

bar MEG in Tokyo.
At that time, a jazz critic and the

of MEG, Mr.Yasukuni Terashima
decided
an order for custom Jazz Audio Fans
Only
in snap judgment.
Mr.Terashima
specified
"Lamborghini Yellow"
to the Jazz Audio
Fans Only at first.
But he eventually specified the
yellow of |

MEZZO of his home.
For aging,
we had the keeping of
the finished custom Jazz Audio Fans
Only for a while.
It brightened up Hasehiro listening
room.
And it is more brightly and loud yellow color
than the pictures. |

I finished the
junction between the layered boards of
the custom Jazz
Audio Fans Only with putty
according to Mr.Terashima's
request.
Also, Mr.Terashima requested the gloss
painting to me.
So finally, a clear coating was
executed.
Experience tells me that the sound becomes a
little round and glossy
if it's a clear coated
enclosure.
I told that to Mr.Terashima, but he
requested the gloss painting
by reason that
looks are also important.
As I was thinking, the
sound of the custom Jazz Audio Fans Only
sounds like a
polished urbanized jazz performance
with a glossy
brightness compared to
the standard Jazz Audio Fans Only.
Also, the clear coating
brought thick bone to the bass,
and mellowness to female jazz
vocal
wonderfully.
After deliverd the Yellow
Jazz Audio Fans Only to Mr.Terashima,
I feel sad
somehow.
Like the best beauty returned to home during a
party. |

We Hasehiro Audio unveiled the new
model UMU-191M
in the 20th Vacuum Tube Audio Fair in
Akihabara,Tokyo.
UMU-191M had Audio Nirvana Super 8"
Cast Frame at that time,
but I replaced it with
Audio Nirvana Classic 8" Cast Frame on trial.
Unlike
Super 8", Classic 8" doesn't have a phase plug and a
sub-cone.
Now, we delivery with UMU-191M to Hasehiro
listening room's regulars
before general release.
They
encouraged me to make the design and the
production.
They are different in their taste in music
and sound.
A heavy jazz lover chose Audio
Nirvana Super 8" Cast Frame by saying
that its roughish
sound is right fit for jazz.
A vocal music lover has
already bought Audio Nirvana Super 8" Alnico,
and he is
all prepared waiting for the completion of UMU-191M
box.

Frame fit me because the vocal hides
behind music as a
result of the trial listening.

female
vocal of animated song came up to the fore against
music.
Maybe the animated song lover Mr.S would like

afternoon Mr.S came Hasehiro listening room
with his two other friends: Mr.H
and Mr.M.
The purpose
for visiting is taking-over and trial listening of
his
UMU-191M with
Audio Nirvana Classic 8" Cast Frame.
Immediately, I
put a designated song from his anime song's CD
album.
"Eh? that can not
be..."
It's a noisy song, I can't be heard an
instrument and female vocal.
Mr.S is listening to the
song without expression,
and his two friends don't
comment about it.
After the end of the song, I asked him
what he thinks of it anxiously.
"Hmmm, it be
nice.", he said. It may flattering words...
Next
is Nyaruko: Crawling With Love! Complete Album.
This
time, UMU-191M with Classic 8" Cast Frame
highlighted
the sound image.
It's funny song with a
good beat, and comes out a pretty voice
to the fore
powerfully.
Playing electronic instrument is a genuine
delight.
His once-voiceless two friends
said,
"It's a good sound!
The first listening album is too bad
recording."
And Mr.S talked with a
contented smile,
"Anime
song is a pretty singing. I listen to anime song of
my
favorite voice, but it's utterly different from I had
listened to it
at home. I feel so good about my favorite
voice,
and it enjoyably listenable. I am highly satisfied
with
Audio Nirvana Classic 8" Cast Frame."
I
was surprised by listening to VOCALOID™
I quickly realize
that it is not the human voice, but it has warmth
and a
human feelings.
I thought it may be natural with the use
of the current technology.
But at the moment one of his
two friends Mr.H said,
"Why? It sounds like a human singing. This
driver is amazing."
Mr.H praised UMU-191M with
Classic 8" Cast Frame a great deal.
We already received
advance order for UMU-171M from Mr.H,
but he had been
dithering the driver for quite a while because
he listen
to a wide genre such as jazz, rock and anime song.
Mr.H
decided Audio Nirvana Classic 6.5" Cast Frame
by this
trial listening.

Classic 8" Cast Frame
was also highly praised
by his another friend
Mr.M.
"Jazz, rock, classic, pop and anime
song.
This
is excellent almighty driver. It rivals high-grade
loudspeakers of
JPY2,000,000 if mount on Hasehiro backloaded
horn enclosures!"
Mr.M
pre-ordered 2 pairs of UMU-191M with Audio
Nirvana
on the spot; one Super 8" Alnico and
the other
Classic 6.5" Cast Frame.
Around midnight, we listened
to the first no-good anime song again
at Mr.M's
suggestion before they get home.
UMU-191M with
Classic 8" Cast Frame organized the sounds,
and
played that with a good feeling this
time.

Anyhow
RR-10PA13 was comfortable sound quality.
RR-10PA13 healed
me.
It is an ordinary expression but I was impressed by
the rich sound that
can not be thought of as a full-range
speaker of only about 12cm.
RR-10PA13 had a wide dynamic
range, localized a sound image
at the suitable position,
and beautifully expressed
the outline of a
sound.
RR-10PA13 plays a
comfortable high-pitched tone in the
ear.
It plays a vocal, saxophone and piano like
talking. |

Furthermore, it plays
a gentle low-pitched tone
like a flowing stream.
It
bewitched me with their fine balance.
I can not judge
whether it is due to
RR-10 that draws
the merit of
DCU-F131W or
whether it is due to the performance
of
DCU-F131W such as the cone, ring and
coil.
RR-10PA13 has an honest and natural

not causing fatigue. I listened mainly
to jazz.

Some visitors at last year's
The 21th Vacuum Tube Audio Fair and
this year's Hasehiro
Listening Event in Nihonbashi said,
"The sound of
soundbar was better when lifted from the
table."
I played the smartphone source with
soundbar at that venues, and
lifted it up overhead by
hand as it is that visitors sitting
on the rear
seats can see it.
That was a report from visitors who
noticed the change of sound. |

I tried it at
home.
It was a fact that the moment
I
lifted BH600 natural up
from the table, the sound
spread
around as it was released,
and the sound
turns back when
I place it on the table
again.
Soundbars have SSC;
alcohols
solvent
containing silicon nanospheres
impregnated in
the body, |
| it can penetrate
evenly and deeper into the body. |
And it becomes solid
film inside the body.
Hereby, soundbars can be
made to echo
the sound in the whole body.
But the echo
of the baseplate is suppressed
if place soundbars
directly on a table.
Soundbars have rounded thin
legs
at the four corners of the baseplate
for
floating.
But they are only a few millimeters
thick,
so it seems like the installation
surface
of the baseplate isn't echoed
enough.
For the time being...
I placed BH600
natural in a standing state
on the table.
The
mobile soundbar BH600 natural filled music
having a
spread with a comfortable
in the entire room. |

The TV soundbar BH800 having a long
total length has
more large spread of sound as I had
thought.

I bought the mobile
soundbar BH600 natural to operate a PC
listening to my
favorite music.
About one month pass since I bought BH600
natural.
I keenly impress with the fact that it plays
with such a gentle sound
from such a small speakers.
I
was worried that it plays with a harsh sound before
purchase.
And the amplifier has sufficient power, so
I think that
the big audio system is unnecessary when
listening to music alone.
I have Pioneer CD player
PD-HL1, Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) speakers
and
KALYPSO tube amp by CR Developments Ltd., but I have
to
listen to music at listening position in the case of
them.
But I can enjoy my favorite music by the good sound
of BH600
natural
everywhere. |

Even put BH600
natural on a desk, it does not interfere anything.
And
BH600 natural is convenient to carry around, so
sometimes
I move it and notebook PC from one room to
another,
and enjoy my favorite music at reasonable
cost.
BH600 natural becomes better sound if keep my
ear level in line
with it, or turn it toward my
ear.
I really like BH600
natural.

In February,
the owner of well-established seal shop in the
city
came see Hasehiro Audio for the first time in a
decade.
I got to know the owner at an inter-industry
exchange of the city.
The shop owner is not an audio
nut, but love of music.
He loved the sound of the mobile
soundbar BH600 natural so much,
and purchased it there
and then.
He became the second purchaser of the
backloaded soundbar.
I thought he uses BH600 natural as
BGM player in the shop,
but he didn't think so.
He
will use BH600 natural when he carves a seal after closing
the shop
in his mind.
I visited his seal shop
about one month later. |

He played The
Beatles by PC sound source.
His BH600 natural faces
in the direction of the back of the shop.
He said, "I
am able to work listening to my loved music
by the
wonderful sound, so I was getting able to
do my work joyfully
without losing interest even
alone at
night."
