FOSTEX F200A
WCW-F200A Thank you very much for all
that you have done for me. WCW-F200A arrived at my home
last Saturday in the rain. I removed furniture and cleaned
the living room for place to put WCW with my
wife. We put YAMAHA NS-1000M that I had used
away, and we placed WCW-F200A in the middle of the living
room. WCW-F200A's tincture fits perfectly with the colors
of furniture in the living room. My amp is LUXMAN, and I
bought it around the same time as YAMAHA NS-1000M. This
spring, it had a complete overhaul by LUXMAN. I will not be
able to do without it with analog player for no
special reason.
My family loves music. Someone
enjoys listening to music, or plays an instrument on
holidays. In severe cases, my home echoes with a flute, a
piano and a brass horn at the same time.
Response of such a family to WCW-F200A
is: My wife likes it. Every night she listens to
music in the bedroom. It has received a favorable reception
from my daughter, especially the tone color. She plays the
piano. I made the right choice.
I learned about electronic engineering at
college. So, I understand the distinction of physical
structure between YAMAHA NS-1000M and WCW-F200A. But I'm
not remotely interested in audio magazine-like
controversy, and I can't evaluate it, too. The sound
reminded me of that feeling of my memory; Several
years ago, I got a long-cherished handmade flute after
three years of waiting from ordering. It was subtly
different tone color from the flute that I had
used many years. I felt that the well-wrought handmade
flute insists its own individuality.
I listened to the sound, I felt that WCW-F200A is
like a work of art. Thank you
for making "great instrument WCW-F200A" for
me. |

The Cherry WCW-F200A FOSTEX
F200A
I hated to impose, thank you very much for
customizing me the custom-made cherry WCW-F200A. The
cherry WCW-F200A were completed after more than 6
months from the meeting with you.
I listened to the
sound about 3 weeks. At first the high note had a hard
core, so I got tired from listening. But now there is no
more it, and the sound increased the richness. That's
lifelike loudspeakers. The enclosures seem to be getting
more distinctive resonance, belong with the whole cherry
WCW-F200A since I began playing the sounds of
wind instruments such as tenor saxophone on loud. I put
my hands on the enclosure when I'm listening, the
sound clouded over because I suppressed its distinctive
resonance temporarily. The cherry WCW-F200A have high
sound reproducibility. So, now I enjoy the world of
Toru Takemitsu without leaving home at
all.
I made the speaker stands for the cherry
WCW-F200A, and raised the listening
position. So, the sound emitted from the backloaded
horn was spread and they are reproducing realistic three-D
sound field. There is the entrance door to the drying room
of guitar making in the room, so I put up urethane
wheels to the speaker stands, which doubles as a
vibration-proof effect. Additionally, the floor material is
hardwood timber. They prevent the propagation of noise, and
seem to be having a good effect on the sound.
The
cherry WCW-F200A pick up too much detail, and also
have too high sound reproducibility. So, I custom-ordered
heavy drapery for acoustic absorption. Sense of
tension is gone by its effect. |
|
Cherrywood is precious material. In Japan, it
is used to the hallmarks of traditional Japanese musical
instruments as the best material. None of them such as the
hardness, the specific gravity and the density are low. But
they aren't too high. It emphasizes the sound detail from
the excellent propagation of sound when produced a
structure. That is why it is heralded for generations since
ancient times as instrumental material.
Strong
magnet vibrates the thin cone, and amplifies the
bass through the hard concrete horn, then releases the
sound energy with a subtle delay.
The WCW structure
with cherrywood property is remarkably similar to the
principle of sound energy conversion of musical instrument
produced by me. |
WCW-F200A made from cherry
wood |
That's the instrument to play the musical
sound. The WCW is simply a masterpiece. Please make
the cherry WCW-F200A if the music fan is going to
insist.
Send my thought as a sound craftsman to
you. None like the loudspeakers in the world. The cherry
WCW-F200A are a very valuable loudspeakers from a
historic perspective.
I only get one life. I just
thank God that I met the cherry WCW-F200A. I enjoy the
emotive musics with tears in my eyes. I want to try
new things, too. Best wishes in your future business
endeavors. |

FOSTEX
F200A WCW-F200A
I received WCW-F200A in
late July. I thought the origin is good, but I felt
something different. So, I have waited for
comment.
I therefore sounded nonstop for 2 days at
full blast. However, despite the megavolume, single-ended
tube amplifier (9W). As a result, the high-tone range came
out gradually, but I still felt something
different. Hmm... it may need speaker stands. I
had put WCW on top of the audio rack directly until then. I
found wooden
blocks at
do-it-yourself store, and I bought 8 blocks. It was a great
success.
Now, nearly 2 months after that, I
remark on WCW. But it is comparison with D-57
(designed by Mr.Tetsuo Nagaoka).
The Comparative
Disadvantage: I feel like I have a low efficiency
for backloaded system because of the single-ended tube
amplifier. It sounds rudely when I turn up the
volume. And I don't feel large scale organization when I
listen to a symphony by full-blown symphony
orchestra.
The Comparative Advantage: The
range is not so great, but the balance is so great. So, I
can listen to chamber music, pop music, etc. without any
dissatisfaction. And my favorite is, all kinds of sounds
are completely natural and live. A life-size vocal
performer sang in front of me without the close my
eyes in any genre of music such as operatic, pop, jazz
music, etc. It gave me goose bumps. |

Mr.K, Toyama City September
2010 |
Hello,
Hasehiro. It was my great pleasure to receive RR-10PA13 day
after day since I ordered it in early August.
I
listened to the backloaded horn sounds first at your listening
room. All of Hasehiro tones had an amazing clear
sounds that I haven't listened before. My own ears was
really overwhelming from first to last.
I loved
RR-10PA13 at first sight and listening. Now RR-10PA13
always plays music when I am in my room. It
doesn't play muffled sound, but it has the warmth and
soft tone.
Once I
start listening to the sound, it's hard to stop. I love
the rounded figure, too. That was a little over my
budget because it was about JPY100,000. But I have no
regrets, and in fact I am greatly pleased with
RR-10PA13. I will visit your listening room
again. |
January 2012 |
Happy New Year! Please excuse me for
not writing so long. I'm K I bought RR-10PA13 in
2010.
My RR-10PA13 sits down in place and plays music
even now. I often listen to vocal music, and feel
approaching sound in emotional parts. RR-10PA13 gives a
clear picture of even the expression on band member's
face. Just like singing prowess varies depending on the
lung-power, the song and the emotion, I see loudspeaker
has a technology element and an
artistic element. I feel
blessed to listen to my favorite musics through my
favorite
color. |
Mr.Fuse, Ota-ku,
Tokyo October 2009 |
|
Good
evening, I'm Fuse. I sent the sound of
RR-10 (custom-ordered painting color and drivers FOSTEX
MG100HR-S) at the beginning of October.
I don't know
about the backloaded horn sound since I had just heard the
sound in your listening room. So I listened to the
sound with both concerns and hopes in my mind. The
sound was a disappointment at the beginning, revealed bad
high note, low-pitched tone and also resolution. I placed
insulators under the RR-10s and I angled the RR-10s. But
nothing changed... I really blew
it...
I kept playing various musics and movies in
hope of aging effect. Spent an entire day, I felt
better. Thereupon I listened to the familiar sound. The
sound changed to the higher resolution and volume
level than yesterday. I have some leads...
I turned
up the amp and I kept aging until the third day. I could
feel the volume up, increase in force of low-pitched
tone and enhancement of resolution. As a result, I did
the setting again. I continue to feel the betterment
of the sound quality. Recently, RR-10 plays a wonderful
sound with just a 10cm full-range speaker
driver. Especially the low-pitched tone requires no
subwoofer when music appreciation. The trouble is that
RR-10 writes open and above-board even if it is compressed
sound source. So I'm ripping them by uncompression
again.
I felt that I was taking a big risk because I
don't know about the backloaded horn sound. Now I'm so
glad I bought RR-10, and I really appreciate your
response to my special request of delicate
violin color. Thank you very much. |

Mr.M, Gunma

I received PMP-131SS. Thank you for the
careful work.
TG9FD-10-04 The echo in my house is
so natural because it is about 40 square meters of the
floor space with a vaulted ceiling, and the walls are
diatomaceous earth. I can play a stereo at full blast
even late at night because of the geographical distance of
neighboring house.
My system
is cheap all-in-one stereo, a few years old. When
I listen to the sound of PMP-131SS on the staircase
landing of the second floor at reasonable volume, it
sounds like I am listening the music on the 5th floor
area from a classical music concert at the first
floor of a high-rise building with open ceiling
space.
I have wanted the sound of this for so
long.
I immediately put Corian board under PMP-131SS, and I
listened to the sound on the first floor at full
blast.
"Wow! Wowie! Great!" It
brought endless surprises.

confirm that it is big enough to listen to music at my
house. |
Mr.H, Kanagawa
Pref. July
2009 |
(He purchased an end-of-life Hasehiro
limited production model PMP-151S, and it has VERAVOX

I received PMP-151S today. I was surprised by
the beautiful paint.
Until now, I was using YAMAHA
NS-10MT for nearly 10 years. I set up PMP-151S not to put
my fingerprints on the beautiful glossy surface while
listening to music on NS-10MT. Can it destroy the
stereotypical image that a speaker depends almost entirely
on the size of the enclosure and the diameter of the
speaker driver? I look forward to hearing
it.
Angela Aki At first, it was hard
and dried sound. I felt a narrow range,
too. After about 20 minutes... Gosh!
What!? I was moved by a real gentle vocal and
piano, also a rich bass sound. YAMAHA NS-10MT has a
listener-friendly refreshed sound, but PMP-151S already
transcends NS-10MT in the realities of her vocal and her
piano playing.
Dione Taylor The sound
changes fast while listening.
The range were spreading and it got more and more a
reality. The sound don't come out from VERAVOX 5S, it
comes out from the whole PMP-151S in a radial
manner.
Hasehiro backloaded horn speakers are so
great! No wonder "Hasehro Horn is for music lovers
who want to listen to music with delight".
I made a great buy, thank you so much.

Mr.Murata, Tokyo June
2009 |
(He purchased an end-of-life Hasehiro
limited production model PMP-151S, and it has VERAVOX
5S)
I received PMP-151S. I fully listened to the
sound at the end of last week. I was prepared to take some
time to aging because of a single full-range speaker
driver.
Maybe it will be a hard sound
with a narrow range for a few months. However, it played in a
listener-friendly tone from the beginning. PMP-151S
betrayed me in good meaning. But it was a narrow range,
especially I felt a lack of a bass tone.
However,
the lowrange were spreading after ten minutes. I heard
the sound of contrabass body after an hour. Naturally, I
think the absolute bass volume is not so loud.
Because
I think a giant self-standing model like the late Tetsuo Nagaoka's backloaded horn is necessary if want
overwhelming bass by backloaded horn at 40 to 50Hz. But I
learned it quickly that the search for catalog data of
PMP-151S is absolute nonsense. Because the sound is so
great!
About three hours later, the
sound that I has never heard from a speaker before came out
from PMP-151S from one minute to the next. Of course the
piano is great like pianoblack. My surprise was
saxophone. Subtone is so real! I
assure you this is a genuine sound of the
saxophone because I play tenor sax. Nylon string of the
guitar was vibrating in front of me when I listened to
bossa nova. Obviously, singing voice is great,
too!
I never believed CDs that are familiar to
me would be this throb! Moreover, it
brings me peace and comfort! What is going to
happen to the PMP-151S after several months? I
can't imagine. These are my honest feedback. I made a
great buy, thank you so much. I'm not exaggerating to help
your ads, and these are my real
feedback. |
Mr.W, Kanagawa
Pref. March
2009 |
(He purchased custom-ordered
PMP-131SS.)
I settled into a job, so I
could listen to the sound at last. Truthfully, I am
surprised. The combination of wood cone driver
and backloaded horn system surpassed my
expectation. After all, the sound is unthinkable grandeur
from seeing the largeness. You said to me, "At
first, you should listen to the sound with closed
eyes." Now, I see what you're saying.
DCU-F101W I am using DENON DCD-CX3
(CDP) and Triode TRV-84HD (Amp). So I worried about power
shortages for PARC Audio DCU-F101W. However, such worries
proved to be groundless. The volume control is enough, 20
to 30%.
Usually, I have heard jazz piano and saxophone,
etc. That's fused speaker, the solid sound of a small
full-range driver, the resounding backloaded sound and the
wet sound of wood cone. That's gentle healing sound. But
that's not dopey sound, that's tightly-contained
sound.
Besides that, it's still shakedown sound. I'm
looking forward to it ahead. I'll be counting on
you. |

(He purchased an end-of-life Hasehiro
limited production model PMP-141S, and it has Vifa
10BGS 119/8)
I received PMP-141S at the end of the last
month.
I'm sorry I didn't get back to
you sooner. I set up
PMP-141S and listened to the sound on that day of
receipt. My wife is unfussy about sound but she said,
"Oh, this is good. Anyone including me can see the
difference in sound." It was such a good sound from
the beginning.
About one month has passed,
PMP-141S plays music with a very good
sound.
The vocal is so great. It has a mild
shiny tone and yet a strong core, too.
In particular, I am
captivated by singing voice when I listen to
jazz. Recently, PMP-141S plays Emi Fujita and
noon's albums all the time.
The piano and the
guitar are so great, too. It is a lot of fun when I listen
to nifty guitar work of Akio Yokota. I'm very
pleased about vividness of a guitar because I play
it.
PMP-141S is great speaker
system to enjoy music. I
listen to jazz, mainly. But I listen to Tristan
Prettyman, Marié Digby and rock music during
a meal. Of course, the guitar is so great. I also
listen to Spitz and Southern All Stars by my
wife's taste for music. They are a lot of fun, too.
Thank you for great speaker. |

Mr.Matsu, Osaka
Pref. April
2008 |
(Eventually, he purchased an end-of-life
Hasehiro limited production model PMP-141S, and it has
Vifa 10BGS 119/8)
10BGS 119/8 Thank you for the warm
welcome you extended to me while I was there. For the
first time, I experienced authentic backloaded curved horn
sound at your listening room.
The sound changed my
image of the backloaded horn sound. It is generally defined
as a very effective system for bass reproduction. But
Hasehiro backloaded horn system comes out the sound from
high to low pitch tone smoothly. It has a convincing sound
to listener. So, I didn't feel like "the high note
is this, the bass tone is that", because it has a
well-balanced sound, and these sound quality have a natural
connection.
In other words, I didn't feel the
backloaded horn habit like a resonant tube to the
Hasehiro backloaded horn system. The low range from the
horn opening is in harmony with the radiated mid-high range
from the driver.
Particularly, PMP-141S is great and
it has a well-balanced quality and range. At least,
PMP-141S is placed the highest rank among the 8cm single
full-range driver systems. Specifically singing voice and
piano sound were real.
I was moved by the most natural sound regardless of the
genre.
I myself produce the DIY speaker
system. Accordingly, I want to use PMP-141S as a target
reference speaker. So, I will go for PMP-141S. I will
come to your garage factory to pick up PMP-141S after
completion. |
September 2008 |
PMP-141S I bought in July has progressed
the aging. So I report on
the present sound.
As may be expected of
adhesively-laminated enclosure, it resonates little. So, I
can turn up the volume tolerably. Thick cashew coated
film has shown a significant effect on the sound,
too. This makes a wide acoustic field. Cashew coating is
great.
It has a voluminous bass outside the diameter of
Vifa 10BGS 119/8. Naturally, it doesn't have a deep bass,
but I don't feel a lack of bass. I think this sound is the
backloaded system.
Overall impression on the sound is
"beautiful" at any rate. It is so
ear-pleasing sound. Conversely, it is "too much
beautiful" sound, especially the sound of the
piano.
Low and high range
balance is great because I decided to buy it for its piano
sound and a balanced range.
PMP-141S dosen't play with
disagreeable sound in any CD. But it has a little bit of trouble with
"vivid
sound" such as snapping sound of jazz live and the
realities of tone color and texture. However, I think
they come from the attributes of Vifa 10BGS 119/8. So, the
impression seems changeable by the driver.
The
speaker in a photo with PMP-141S is my own speaker
"ASURA-II". I entered it to the DIY speaker
competition 2008 hosted by stereo
magazine. It
uses 3 Vifa TG9FD-10-04 (8cm), but 1 Vifa 10BGS
119/8 (10cm) on PMP-141S has a more voluminous
bass.
I'm looking forward to a new speaker using a
different driver. I will come to your listening room
again someday. |

\ Report from Hasehiro
\
Mr.Matsu visited Hasehiro listening room to
buy SSC compound in March of this year. He wanted to paint
it on ASURA-II before the competition. He won the
Vice-Grand Prix at the DIY speaker competition 2008 for
ASURA-II.
He revisited Hasehiro listening room to
report the prize with his wife and ASURA-I on his car in
July of this year. He unloaded ASURA-I from
his car, and set up them.
I was amazed by the beautiful
finish. He coated ASURA series with cashew paint by
himself, but it is a professional-level beautiful mirror
finish. They used style-obsessed items such
as a screw, and the appearance is like a
skyscrapers. I felt like they are artistic objects instead
of thinking of the speakers.
ASURA-I
| He
took a hint from the 3D field speaker "HYDRA" made by
Mr.Tetsuo
Nagaoka, and produced
ASURA series. Without doubt, it was a unheard-of strange
acoustic field just like a 3D acoustic field
speakers.
The sound spread the whole of space, and it
has a stress-free tone. When I listened to the sound with
bending down to look at the details, I heard high-hat
cymbals from the higher position than the roofs of the
skyscrapers. I asked him about the peculiar
phenomenon. According to him, it appears due to the effect
of the diagonal reflecting boards on the roofs of the
skyscrapers.
The drivers are AIR WAVE hexagon-frame
flat diaphragm (8cm). He says that the acoustic field is
located at the back of the driver with the flat diaphragm
feature.
ASURA-I | The more I see of ASURA, I learn the
greatness of the working accuracy. He produced most parts
of ASURA by himself, such as lumber
cutting, assembling and coating. When I think the
work, I have a high regard for his
perseverance. |

Mr.M, Tokyo December 2008

I like to "make
products" and I was interested in DIY kit for Hasehiro
backloaded horn speaker. So I listened to Hasehiro
sound in some Hasehiro events. As a result, I
purchased UMU-131SSKN with DIY Audio SA/F80AMG because of not
only small in size but also comfortable sound level.
I
wavered choosing the paint. Usual synthetic resin coating
is commonly-used paint and it has already precedent for
cashew coating. Hmm... A light bulb went off in my
head. I decided to authentic lacquering. I decided to
one of Tsugaru-lacquer of traditional "Kara-nuri" and I requested it to the craft center of
Hirosaki City.
"Kara-nuri" takes over 50 lacquering
processes and the feature is distinctive
pattern. Compared with the lacquering, the sound tightened
on the whole and the midrange with the high-tone range
sharpened, it has become more powerfully. What is your
impression of Tsugaru-lacquer? |

I decided two-tone coating
for the last time. I used automotive urethane coating
material because that is have a wider variety of a
commercial colors. But automotive coating material is not
for wood so I painted the base and the protective coating,
too.
That took up and has improved the localization of
sound as compared with before
painting. |

Listening impression by renting

I wanted to put UMU-131XS on a low
table. So, I put granite stones on a low table and I put them on the
granite stones.
A digital amplifier is KENWOOD Prodino
KAF-A55, and I connected to a notebook machine using USB
connection cable. And also, I was hoping to
connect via fiber optics of ONKYO ND-S1 digital media
transport to iPod nano. But I didn't get ONKYO ND-S1 during
UMU-131XS lending period. So, I used KENWOOD Prodino
KAF-A55 on an analog line, too. |
|
UMU-131XS sound is more than the size and it has
not annoying habits. It plays anything such as
classical, J-pop, jazz, bossa nova, euro-beat and
techno music. I felt it is the excellent speakers and easy
on the ear. What is more, greatly expands the possibility
of its location. |

Listening impression by renting

How do you do? I am Takehana. I
presently operate the Internet shopping site of classical
CD. I'm looking for compact desktop PC speaker. Because
in my work, I have to listen to the musical
performance and the acoustic quality, and that I have to
make a quick and clear judgment. I searched the
Internet and read UMU-131XS's reputableness. Although it
would be proper to go off to your listening room to
listen, but it's difficult to find the time to do
it. Please lend me UMU-131XS.
\
after return \
I returned UMU-131XS
with strong reluctance. UMU-131XS played gorgeous sound
than I imagined.
In my work, I listened to
classical music. The most surprising point was solid
musical instruments and voices. That is not the audio sound
and also hi-fi sound. It is the sound that suggests
self-instruments and self-voices.
I thought it is
hopeless for UMU-131XS to ask for undertone and
expansiveness from the point of view of the body size. But
that concern proved unfounded. A bevy of undertone of
cello and contrabass such as Beethoven's Symphony
approachs me with their overwhelming presence. It
seems that they are different music.
Further highlight
for me was a chamber music of small format and a song of
piano accompaniment. It was surprising for me, the
atmosphere of musical instruments and the sound
localization.
The trial listening was 5 days long but
UMU-131XS proved own worth. I could experience the
magnificence to listen to music with a good sound. Thank
you so much! I will come to your listening room
sometime soon. Among them, I'm interested in
UMU-131SS. |
Mr.Doi, Kanagawa

I am working for

face up to the hard sound of a standard studio speaker for
a long stretch of time. So I often get tired to hear
sound.
Among these programs, one of my friend once
made backloaded horn speaker. It reminded me of
that. Accordingly, I purchased UMU-131XS. That's small
and cute but not kill the sound, and I can hear the sounds
sweet.

Mr.Saito, Hokkaido October 2010 |
I received
UMU-121SS today! Until now, I was using TIMEDOMAIN
mini.
I was surprised. It is a nondirectional
speaker, but amazingly, UMU-121SS doesn't have directivity
than TIMEDOMAIN. I knew backloaded horn speaker is high
directivity but that is not the case
with UMU-121SS.
It's certainly a gentle
tone. It's not too soft and it moderately leave a tense
feeling. So, it doesn't produce a feeling of
strangeness. In particular, the sound of a string and a
recorder are good. Throughout the music I could sense
the player's feelings when I listened to recorder
music.
But sibilant such as "s" and "z" was
disagreeable to my ear, when I listened to vocal
music.
UMU-121SS just came here. So, I will learn
something new almost every day.
I'm looking forward to it.
I'm lucky enough that I encountered a good
speaker. Keep up the fantastic work. Thank you very
much. |
Mr.M, Niigata Pref. July 2010 |
Thank you for making
to me so wonderful speaker
system! Especially when I listen to
female vocal music and strings, it's a feeling captured in
an indescribable mood. I cherish startling
moment. It touches my heart even old

different levels of feminine charms and
coquetry. |
Mr.K, Niigata
City July
2010 |
Today, UMU-121SS
came to me. I listened to Kaori
Muraji "Concierto de Aranjuez" without
eating.
It's a clear sound and the same sound that the
real acoustic G string. It precisely reproduces the
chattering vibration of low E string, rounded sound of
gut string and metallic sound of steel string. On the other
hand, it permit the distinction between stringed instrument
and wind instrument. It's a very good sound not only bass
but also high note such as piccolo, and thick
orchestra, too.
It amazes me that the
smallness. |

to The Beatles "(remastered) Please Please
Me"
Such smallness, but amazing
color! The sound is so clear like rounded tone of
semi-acoustic Höfner bass, pesante and sharp tone of
Rickenbacker and a beautiful high-pitched tone of
Gretsch. Above all, I develop an illusion that they are
singing in front of me.
Chorus part precisely
reproduces and it is clear, so that's tablature
score. Spread of sound is excellent from high to
low-pitched tone.
It's too bad I can't emit a loud
sound because I live in an urban area. But UMU-121SS has
given perfect satisfaction even such a situation. How about
"Little Giant" as a
nickname? |
